Streets Of Magazine

front cover of Streets Of Magazine

During my elective of editorial layout, we collaborated with the writing team to create the magazine 'Streets Of'. Focusing on one street per issue, the magazine dives deep into the culture, history, architecture, culinary experiences and local stories from that street. You can get up close and personal with the magazine here.

The process of creating this magazine began with interviewing the potential target audience to find out what was important for them. We found a few key insights, which laid out the direction of the magazine.

From the insights, we gathered the magazine should have a nostalgic, yet modern feeling to it. The readers wanted a balance of text/visuals and it was important that the visuals could be something they were proud to display in their homes.

I worked as a graphic designer within my team. I created the spread for Vega, and it's illustrations. I also created some small illustrations that are used throughout the magazine, such as an espresso martini and a pint of beer.

In some instances, I worked with the layout of a page and I also took the full-page photos. While each group member was responsible for certain spreads, many of the spreads and pages are also a collaboration from different team members, with some doing the layout and others doing the illustrations.
